nspired by the constant changes in Singapore's infrastructure scene, Guo Chang became fascinated by the development of quality residential buildings and retail malls, highly efficient land transportation network, and world-renowned port and airport facilities of Singapore.
I realised I wanted a fulfilling career – one that is challenged beyond the confines of an office cubicle,” Guo Chang fervently says. Guo Chang decided to change his education elective thereafter, transferring from Junior College to Singapore Polytechnic to pursue a Diploma in Civil Engineering as this would give him earlier exposure to Civil Engineering and work towards his career goals.
"
Many people see Civil Engineering as a low-paying career choice. But in actual fact, it can be well paid and offers a wide variety of career choices,” Guo Chang says as he clears up a common misconception.
Civil Engineering is very much a people-oriented profession. You need effective communication skills to liaise with different parties.
Currently a third year Civil Engineering undergraduate at the National University of Singapore, Guo Chang was awarded the BCA-CPG Built Environment Scholarship last year. He appreciates the opportunity to hone his craft with an established and reputable organisation like CPG Consultants and remarks, I look forward to starting my profession as a civil engineer with CPG Consultants and contribute to Singapores built environment. It is also not desk bound and allows me to interact with people of different profession.
